Re: Introductions!
Wed, March 3, 2004 - 1:14 PMHi! I organize events. I used to organize large, outdoor, activism festivals, concerts and fairs, but, most recently, I have organized college tours for activists and celebritities. Sometimes, I organize parties with electronic music in secure, private venues. So I am on the contract-signing, laminate-designing end of the events, but I have lots of black t-shirts and I like to climb high ladders, if you will let me hang out with you . . . -

Re: Introductions!
Wed, March 3, 2004 - 1:57 PMIf you can climb high ladders in those shoes,
you've got my vote!
I mainly work on other's events as an entertainer, but I produce a few intimate cabarets a year in SF, and looking to expand my productions to the west coast with some parties in Seattle and San Diego. -

Fri, December 17, 2004 - 11:57 AMUpdate:
I'm moving to Las Vegas for the new year,
and looking to pick up some stagehand work
while I promote my entertainment services...
Anyone have a few contacts I can meet?
I've been picking up theatre work with Diamond Dave
here in SF since I returned from Italy...
Have been out of the Local 16 loop for a while...

Wed, March 3, 2004 - 5:47 PMMe Shatter
Me toss idiots out head first the ruin club for good people.
Hulk Smash.
Actually I'm several evolutional levels above the thundering neanderthal type of security but yes, that's one of the things I do, in addition to promo, managing and operations. I've been doing this long enough to know what works, what doesn't, when to take some small risks to try new stuff without alienating the regulars.
I ran a very successful 16+ club in 98 that only fell apart from a greedy imbezzleing partner.
I also know that if I need sound/lighting I get ahold of the moderator of this tribe and say "FIX. MAKE BETTER." and I can forget about the problems.
:)
Primarily right now, Security is my focus.

Re: Introductions!
Wed, March 3, 2004 - 6:55 PMHey Folks! Live music geek here. I work mainly in the East Bay, keeping the dive bar & warehouse sound systems going with plenty of spit, bailing wire & LUV, IF you've recently been to the Stork Club, the Starry Plough or the ephemeral SLAUGHTERHOUSE, you've got me to thank for your tinitinitis. Now if you got any issues about that equipment donations (especially 15" full-range drivers, min 300 watts) are greatfully appreciated, with the exception of the 'Plough, most venues in the East Bay are non or zero profit & unable to re-emburse me for parts i pay for out of own pocket to keep things going. I told you I was a freak.

My name is Stan Elleflot, and I am a stagehand (IATSE Local 15) and rock and roll lighting designer living in the land of angry geoducks, Vashon-Maury Island, Washington. I specialize in piecing together lighting rigs from bits of found metal, glass and assorted fibers and presenting designs to people who never have any money. Really, though...

Re: Introductions!
Mon, March 22, 2004 - 5:33 PMHelloooo!! and John you look sooo incredibly familiar to me. I'm wondering if I have seen your picture in a magazine somewhere?? Do you work for a big company? I know I have seen you before.
As for me, I am a 28 year old event designer/decorator. I have specialized in designing theme events for big superclubs for my first 4-5 years, but since I left that, have been designing corporate events, fashion shows, and have recently dove into TV set design. I have my own business producing set pieces and general decorative objects!

Right now, I'm thinking of joining the union because I really want to get into theater and film. -

Tue, April 6, 2004 - 3:56 PMHowdiddledoo, I got college edumicated in tech theatre as well as classical theatre. Over the years I've switched back and forth from onstage to backstage. My tech sepciality is lighting design for dance & music events, and rigging like a mofo, but I now mostly take up space onstage as a variety artist. But I still have black jeans & t-shirts.
Actually, I'm only in this tribe because MT said there was free food.

Wed, August 18, 2004 - 4:23 PMJust recently moved to Portland from the East Bay area. My schudule is pretty thin after September.
I primarily do wedding events for income. When I can I really enjoy doing occasional underground parties, CD release parties, and small art shows. I can provide Dj or live sound support for up to around 1000 guests.
Need a smallish 10kw rig and an extra nice guy behind the board in Portland?

Re: Introductions!
Wed, April 6, 2005 - 9:02 AMHi,
I co-create large scale ritual performance as a part of electric/electronic music events. I design and fabricate large-scale props and scenic elements for shows, festivals, and parties. I also create kinetic light sculptures for special events.
I run a studio in Olympia, WA and help produce events between Vancouver and SF. I am always interested in collaboration and am currently planning a series of outdoor art installation/events as well as several projects for the summer.
I am also constructing a custom mobile stage on the back of a 20' flatbed for special event use and am seeking financing for this project. Any ideas?
paix,
-Norm

Re: Introductions!
Wed, April 6, 2005 - 2:00 PMHi! I work a full time job, but I'd rather do my full time hobby of sound reinforcement. I live in Hawaii on the crowded island of Oahu. I have been involved in the local underground electronic music scene for about three years. First helping w/ organization then promotions and finaly moving on to providing sound, lighting, and video. I'll be moving back to the Seattle area at the end of the summer (full time at UW) and I hope to get involved w/ some of the promoters and DJ's there. -

Re: Introductions!
Wed, April 6, 2005 - 3:40 PMAaron in the SF Bay Area,
I sometimes go by NeonBunny, sometimes Aaron. Attempting to cover all aspects of a good time. I do alot of psychadelic installation art ( www.neonbunny.com/gallery/view_album.php ), Costuming ( www.neonbunny.com/gallery/view_album.php ), sometimes my own event production and alot of colaborations with others ( www.bunnyjam.com )
Really interested in events that go beyond having people there to watch some rock star/dj, and more into events that are about the people who come and participate. As well, other types of events/culture jams that manipulate culture as though it is it's own medium of art.
Also enjoy playing with music these days. DJ'ing electro music as DJ Aaron da Starfox ( neonbunny.com/MuseIc/DJAaron2005.mp3 ), and creating my own remixes and djing live PA sets (and cd's, I don't have a laptop), as NeonBunny. Music that is conceptual, themeatic, off the wall, experimental, playful, wierd and fun ( neonbunny.com/MuseIc/TheN...periment.mp3 ).
By day, I make graphics for corporations, and sometimes like to cary this over into doing event fliers and graphics. ( imageotter.com/portfolio/index.html )
Have some equipment I use on occasion too.

Thu, September 8, 2005 - 8:45 PMGreetingz & Salutations everyone!
This is Chris, reporting to you directly from SF. Been doing AV for the past 6 years for a corprate company, but now I've joined the Dark Side. That's right. I.A.T.S.E Local 16. I'm looking forward to learning new aspects of sound and video production, but I'd love to learn theatre, as well. I just joined the Local, so if any of you have any tips they would be very welcomed and appreciated.
Pick my brain and I'll pick yours!
